![]() Up until last year, as alluded to above, new utilities on the jailbreak scene were born as the product and hard labor of U.S. and European-based developers, namely those who comprised the evad3rs. Furthermore, until a group who most would consider foreign (Pangu) made their grand entrance into the world of jailbreaking, the public would be lucky to receive two major jailbreaks a year - one for each sufficient iteration of iOS. However, with their first release, Pangu began to reshape what it means to jailbreak and now, the public is starting to become accustomed to being able to jailbreak the latest version of iOS available, but can Pangu and TaiG keep up?Įnsuing the release of iOS 8, Pangu issued the first iOS 8 jailbreak utility in the form of Pangu8 to jailbreak up to 8.1 before Apple pushed out the company’s minor iOS 8.1.1 release, effectively patching the tool. Shortly thereafter, TaiG promptly inserted themselves into the lives of jailbreakers the world over by releasing a utility capable of jailbreaking not only iOS 8.1.1, but also 8.1.2 which would be released later to rectify a minor ringtone complication.Īfter having survived the release of iOS 8.1.2, TaiG wasn’t as lucky when it came time for iOS 8.1.3 to bring additional improvements and, in turn, a patch for the vulnerabilities the group employed to jailbreak iOS 8.1.x untethered. ![]()
